The aims of the Strategy:

• Improve trans-Pennine rail services

• Restrain traffic on most cross Pennine roads to limit traffic growth

• Create an improved and safer environment for residents and visitors

• Conserve and enhance the National Park

• Help to re-invigorate the economies of urban areas surounding the National Park

• Improve road corridors in the north and to the south of the National Park

• Re-route cross-park cars and lorries
